Scientific Research

The School has undertaken over 100 projects which include National Natural Sciences Foundation Projects, National High Technology Research and Development Programs, State Eighth and Ninth 5-year Plan Projects, provincial and cross-border collaborative projects and so forth. In the 1970s, the school developed the first set of digital telecommunication apparatus, which won the National Science Conference Award. In the 1980s, the school undertook the State 7th Five-year Plan and developed the 60-Channel TDM/FDM Transmultiplexer and realized its industrialization. This won the school the 2nd prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award. In the 1990s, the school spear-headed the development of the TD-SCDMA 30 standard that became China' s first TD-SCDMA standard in line with the ITU Standard, thus being awarded the second prize in National Science and Technology Progress Award in 2003. In 2005, it has successfully developed the world's first TD-SCDMA (TSM) 3G mobile phone Prototype and the 0.13-micro TD-SCDMA mobile phone baseband chip, which was awarded the "2005 Chinese University 10 Major Scientific and Technological Progresses". It epitomized the science and technology capability of the top ten institutions of higher learning in China, and clenched the Second Prize of National Awards for Technology Invention. In 2010, the school won the ”Outstanding contribution award to the TD standard” in the decade celebration of TD international standard innovation .The past few years have witnessed the school’s remarkable achievements that comprise more than 60 scientific achievements above provincial and ministerial level, 59 authorized national invention patents, publications of 38 books , over 300 academic papers (60 are SCI/EI indexed ) and 15 patents per year.
